Bosch washing machine error codes are bellow:

Bosch washing machine E1 Error – Heating Error

Description:

Bosch washing machine E1 error indicates that the temperature of the water was not reached with in a set time. The cycle will continue without heating. Most common reason for E1 error on Bosch washing machine is a faulty heating element. Measure the resistance of the heating element first, it should be between 38-46 ohm. Then measure the resistance of the temperature sensor, it should be around 5.5k ohm at 20 degrees celsius and around 1.2k ohm at 60 degrees celsius. If the heater and temperature sensor have checked out ok, inspect the wiring harness for broken wires. If wiring harness is also ok, it will be the main control board that is responsible for the Bosch washing machine E1 error.

Action To Take:

  1. Check for loose connectors or broken wires.
  2. Measure resistance of the heater: 38-46 ohm.
  3. Measure the resistance of temperature sensor.
  4. Replace main PCB.

Bosch washing machine E2 Error – Motor Fault

Description:

Bosch washing machine E2 error indicates that the washing machine has detected no rotation of the motor when it should be running, this is a common Bosch washing machine error codes on a older machine where the motor brushes have worn out. Make sure to inspect the motor brushes first, then all the plugs for loose connections and then measure the resistance of the motor and tacho.

  1. Check for loose connectors or broken wires.
  2. Check motor brushes are not worn.
  3. Measure the resistance motor windings.
  4. Replace main PCB.

Bosch washing machine E3 Error- Door Lock Fault

Bosch washing machine e3 error

Description:

Bosch washing machine E3 error code indicates that the machine has detected that the door is not closed and can not start a cycle. If the door is shut and E3 error still keeps appearing that means the machine is not able to lock the door to start a cycle. In most cases it’s a failed door lock that causes the Bosch washing machine E3 error. Check out this video how to replace the door lock in Bosch washing machine.

In some cases it can also be a failed spring on the door hook that has become weak or the hook it self is broken and does not engage the lock adequately for the lock to lock the door.

Action To Take:

  1. Check for loose connectors or broken wires.
  2. Inspect the door hook for proper operation.
  3. Replace the door lock.
  4. Replace main PCB.

Bosch washing machine E4 Error- Unexpected Heating

Description:

Bosch washing machine E4 error indicates heating is taking place at a stage of the program where it should not. Most likely caused by a stuck heater relay or faulty temperature sensor giving false reading.

Action To Take:

  1. Check resistance of temperature sensor.

Bosch washing machine E5 Error – Water Inlet Fault

Description:

Bosch washing machine E5 error means that the washing machine has detected that the water is not been filled into the machine when it should. This can be as simple as a closed tap or a squished hose. Make sure to check those 2 issues first. Also sometimes the water filter in the inlet hose and in the back of the solenoids get blocked with sand. If all these things check out ok, then most likely the Bosch washing machine E5 error is caused by faulty solenoids.

Action To Take:

  1. Make sure water tap is not closed and inlet hoses are not kinked.
  2. Check water strainers not blocked with sand.
  3. Check resistance of solenoid coils.
  4. Replace inlet valve.

Bosch washing machine E6 Error – Drain Fault

Description:

Bosch washing machine E6 error is an indication that the washing machine is not able to drain the water in a set amount of time. This is one of the most common Bosch washing machine error codes. Drain pump filters get blocked very frequently if not checked often enough.

Action To Take:

  1. Clean drain pump filter and check for foreign objects in pump impeller.
  2. Check for blockages in drain hoses.
  3. Replace drain pump.

If the filter is clean, make sure that the pump impeller spins freely. Check drain hoses for blockages. If this all fails to resolve the E18 error, replace the drain pump.

Note: If the pump filter makes only a quarter of a turn and gets stuck, watch this video on our YouTube channel how to open a stuck Bosch washing machine drain pump filter.

Action To Take:

  1. Check the drain pump filter for blockages.
  2. Check hoses for blockages and kinks.
  3. If not blockages found and water is not emptying, replace drain pump.
  4. If water emptied and machine still displays error E18, check pressure tube for blockages and replace pressure switch if no blockages are found.

Bosch Washing Machine E19 Error – Heating Fault

Description:

Bosch washing machine E19 error is a heating error. If there is no change in the temperature of water after a certain time, your Bosch washing machine will store a E19 error code in the memory.
