Description:
LG dishwasher IE error is a water inlet error, meaning that the dishwasher has not detected that the water is entering the dishwasher. Starts by checking that the tap is turned on and there actually is water in the tap. If the tap is working well, check that there are no kinks in the water inlet hose. Next up, inspect the screen mesh on the inlet hose for blockages. Measure the resistance value of the inlet solenoid valve and replace it if the resistance is out of range.
Action to Take:
- Make sure tap is on.
- Inspect water inlet hose for kinks.
- Check screen mesh for blockages.
- Measure the resistance of the water inlet valves.
- Replace water valves.
LG Dishwasher AE Error – Leak Error
Description:
LG dishwasher AE error indicates that the flood switch in the base of the dishwasher has been activated. LG dishwashers are made in such a way that if they leak from internal hoses or components the water will not leak out of the dishwasher onto the floor. If your LG dishwasher AE error appears on the screen, unplug the dishwasher from power, remove side panels. Soak up any water in the base and run the dishwasher with the panels removed to see where the leak is coming from. AE error can also be caused by a overflow of the dishwasher that is caused by a problem with draining, so make sure that your dishwasher has no difficulty draining.
Action to Take:
- Disconnect power to dishwasher.
- Remove side panels and soak up water.
- With side panels removed, run dishwasher and observe where the leak comes from.
LG Dishwasher E1 Error – Water Loss from Sump
Description:
LG dishwasher E1 error is a water loss error. E1 error can often be seen in dishwashers that monitor the water level in the sump of the dishwasher during washing. If the water level drops bellow a certain point LG dishwasher E1 error will appear on the screen. E1 error can be caused by cups/bowls that has been placed the wrong way up and started to build up water thus lowering the water level in the dishwasher. Excessive suds will also cause E1 error. Using wrong type or too much detergent can cause excessive foaming that will trigger E1 error on your LG dishwasher. A drain hose that is placed too low can naturally siphon water out of the dishwasher, this will also set off the E1 error.
Action to Take:
- Check for overturned bowls/cups.
- Inspect dishwasher for any water loss.
- Check height and punctures in drain hose.
- With side panels removed, run dishwasher and observe if there are any leaks.
LG Dishwasher CL Error – Child Lock Is On
Description:
LG dishwasher CL error is not really an error, it’s an indication that the child lock is activated and non of the buttons are responsive. When the lg dishwasher says cl on the display, the child lock needs to be deactivated before the buttons become responsive again. Most dishwashers will have a symbol of a child and a line leading to 2 buttons that need to be pressed and held in to deactivate the child lock.

LG Dishwasher bE Error – Too Much Foam
Description:
LG dishwasher bE error occurs when there are too much suds in the dishwasher. This is usually caused by putting in too much detergent or using wrong type of detergent, like regular dish washing liquid for sink use. To rectify this issue, turn off the dishwasher and start a new cycle, before the dishwasher starts a new cycle it drains all the water from the dishwasher. Let the new cycle run for 1 min and then turn the dishwasher off and re start a new cycle again. This should clear out wrong or excessive detergent from the dishwasher.
Action to Take:
- Re-start the dishwasher to flush out wrong/too much detergent.
LG Dishwasher HE Error – Heating Error
Description:
LG dishwasher HE error is an indication that the main control board has not detected an increase in water temperature after a few minutes of the dishwasher running. Most commonly LG dishwasher HE error is caused by a faulty heating element. Measure the resistance of the heating element to make sure it has not burnt out. If the heating element checks out ok, measure the resistance of the temperature sensor. Sometimes temperature sensors can get stuck at reading low temperature and the control board does not realize that the water is actually heating. If the heater and temperature sensor are both fine, replace the main control board, on a rare occasion the relay for the heater fails. LG dishwasher HE error is a fairly common problem but is usually solved fairly easy.
Action to Take:
- Check the resistance on the heating element.
- Measure the resistance of the temperature sensor at different temperature to make sure it registers changes in temperature.
- Replace main PCB.
LG Dishwasher LE Error – Motor Error
Description:
LG dishwasher LE error is an indication of a wash motor problem. In most cases the LE error is caused by a foreign object stuck in the wash pump impeller preventing it from turning. Most commonly pieces of broken glass cause the impeller to get stuck. Or sometimes the wash pump it self just seizes up. On some of the older models that have a motor start capacitor, LE error on the older LG dishwasher can be caused by a faulty capacitor that fails to start the wash pump.
Action to Take:
- Measure capacitance of capacitor(if there is a capacitor).
- Check wash pump for foreign objects.
- Replace wash pump.
