Westinghouse Dishwasher F1 Error – Leak Error

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher error F1 error is a leak error. Error F1 indicates that the flood switch in the base of the dishwasher has been activated. When this fault occurs, the dishwasher will not let the dishwasher be operated and will continuously run the drain pump.

Action to Take:

  1. Inspect the base of dishwasher for leaks.
  2. Find the cause of the leak and replace the responsible part.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F2 Error – Drain Error

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F2 error is a drain fault. This means that the dishwasher was not able to drain the water in a set amount of time. Most commonly Westinghouse dishwasher F2 error is caused by a clogged filter or a blockage in the drain hose. Dishwashers can get blockages very easily and due to this F2 error is one of the more common Westinghouse dishwasher error codes to appear on your dishwasher. To decrease or completely eliminate the chances of Westinghouse dishwasher F2 error, once a month run an empty cycle on the hottest temperature with a dishwasher tablet and clean the filter at least once a week.

Action To Take:

  1. Check filter.
  2. Inspect drain pump for blockages and operation of the pump. Measure resistance of the drain pump coil 141 ohm +/- 10%.
  3. Make sure drain hose is not blocked.
  4. Check pressure sensor for blockages.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F3 Error – Water Inlet Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F3 error is a water inlet fault. F3 indicates that the water is filling into the dishwasher at the time when it should not. In most cases F3 error is caused by a water inlet solenoid that does not close properly and continuously fills the dishwasher with water.

Action To Take:

  1. Replace water inlet valve.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F4 Error – Flow Meter Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F4 error is a flow meter fault. F4 error indicates that the main PCB is not receiving a reading from the flow meter during the filling phase of the cycle. If the water is filling into the dishwasher, then most likely the flow meter is faulty. But if there is no water entering the dishwasher, then the problem would be with the inlet valve.

Action To Take:

  1. Replace flow meter.
  2. Replace water inlet valve.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F5 Error – Water Level Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F5 error has a few reasons and causes and makes it slightly harder to diagnose.

F5 error indicates that there is no water present during the washing phase of the cycle. This could be the fault of the water inlet valve that has failed to fill the water.

But this could also be a problem with the wash pump. These dishwashers have a pressure sensor that gets activated by the pressure made in the pipes by the wash pump. If the wash pump is not running, there will be no pressure created in the pipes, making the dishwasher think that it is empty. For some silly reason, Westinghouse did not fit a motor tacho so the main control board is not aware if the wash pump is running or it is stuck jammed with a piece of glass. Because it is fairly easy for small pieces of foreign objects to make it into the wash pump, F5 error is one of the more frequent Westinghouse dishwasher error codes.

Action To Take:

  1. Check if dishwasher fills with water. If not filling, replace inlet valve.
  2. Inspect wash pump for operation. If seized up, clear foreign objects or replace pump.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F6 Error – Temperature Sensor (NTC) Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F6 error indicates that there is an open circuit in the temperature sensing circuit. This could be anything from a broken wire that connects the NTC to the main PCB or a failed NTC sensor. Firstly check that there are no loose connector plugs, measure the resistance of the NTC and continuity of the wiring to the NTC. Resistance of the temperature sensor should be 47.2k ohm +/- 800 ohm at 25 degrees celsius. If the temperature sensor and wiring are ok then the Westinghouse dishwasher F6 error is caused by a faulty main PCB.

Action To Take:

  1. Inspect loose connections.
  2. Check resistance of NTC and continuity of wiring.
  3. Replace NTC.
  4. Replace main PCB.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F7 Error – Over Temperature Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F7 error indicates that the water temperature is higher than 77 degrees celsius. If you measure the temperature of the water and it is below 77 degrees, that means the temperature sensor is giving a false reading to the main PCB. If the water temperature is truly 77 or above, it could be a stuck heater relay on the main PCB and continues to heat the water even though the operational temperature has been reached. Unless you have the ability to locate and replace the relay, it is best to replace the main PCB.

Also, make sure the dishwasher is connected to the cold tap. If your dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply, make sure the temperature of the supplied water is not above 70 degrees celsius.

Action To Take:

  1. Check the temperature of water supplied to the dishwasher.
  2. Inspect temperature sensor and replace if resistance values out of range.
  3. Replace main PCB.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F8 Error – Heating Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F8 error indicates that the water in the machine has not reached the desired temperature in the set time during the heating phase of the cycle.

Start by making sure the filter is not clogged up preventing the circulation of water through the dishwasher. If the filters are all clean, measure the resistance of the heater. Westinghouse dishwasher heater resistance should be between 27-31 ohms +/-5%. Measure the resistance of the temperature sensor, at 25 degrees celsius the resistance of the temperature sensor should be 47.2k ohm +/- 800 ohm.

Next, check the pressure sensor to make sure it gets activated during the wash cycle. Pressure sensor gets activated by the pressure built up by the wash pump in the system, if there is not enough pressure to activate the pressure sensor or it if has failed the heater will not receive any power from the main PCB. If all these components check out ok, the main PCB will be at fault.

Action To Take:

  1. Inspect wiring harness for broken wires/loose plugs.
  2. Measure resistance of heater. Should be around 27-31 ohm.
  3. Check resistance of temperature sensor. At 25 degrees around 47.2k ohm
  4. Check pressure sensor for correct operation.
  5. Replace main PCB.

Westinghouse Dishwasher F9 Error – Diverter Valve Fault

Description:

Westinghouse dishwasher F9 error indicates a problem with the diverter valve. Inspect diverter valve for foreign objects. And replace if no foreign objects found. Resistance on diverter valve motor should be around 10.5k ohm +/- 5%.

Action To Take:

  1. Check for foreign objects.
  2. Replace diverter valve.
  3. Replace main PCB.
